Embrace Problems for Clearer Thinking

Why Should We Embrace Problems?

More often than not, the word ‘problem’ has a negative connotation and is something most of us wish to avoid. However, over the years, I have learned the best strategy is to embrace problems with open arms.

I wake up every morning expecting problems, whether it’s at home or at work, small or big. Don’t get me wrong – I don’t jolt up from bed every day worrying that something terrible is about to happen. Instead, I embrace the fact that problems are an inevitable part of life with merits of their own.

Problems Help Us Think Differently

Leonardo Da Vinci always assumed his first way of looking at a problem was too biased toward his usual way of thinking, and that’s true! While these issues can be a result of external forces, they can also be caused by our shortsightedness. We sometimes forget to take into account all the factors and possibilities that affect our goals. Hence, we give rise to problems. Once faced with difficulties, we need to think outside the box. We solve difficulties by learning to embrace problems. A few issues later, this improved way of thinking becomes a habit. With each subsequent problem, we discover many different possibilities of thought that shape us into open-minded individuals.

Embrace Problems to Ensure Continual Learning

When facing a problem that seems impossible to solve, there are two ways to go about it. You either give up, which is a mindset I don’t agree with, or you seek information from other sources that can help you find the right solutions.

Imagine having a fuse blow at home on a Friday night. The earliest your technician can arrive is on Monday morning. Would you rather sit at home sulking in the dark all weekend or give your friends a call asking if they know other technicians who are immediately available? Or better, would you just go on Google and search for ways to fix the problem on your own? I’m sure we would all go for the second or third solution in an attempt to have the problem solved quickly. In the process, we get to know other technicians in town or learn some useful handiwork. In other words, learning to embrace problems usually means learning new things.

Problems Give Us Confidence

While issues can be quite stressful to deal with, they empower us. When we come across challenges and we genuinely want to achieve our goals, we push ourselves to overcome them no matter what it takes. Once we win, we develop a sense of confidence knowing we can tackle the problem again if we have to. The trust we gain in ourselves fuels our drive to overcome more significant obstacles in the future. The bigger the problem, the higher the success and confidence boost!

Solving Problems Depends Entirely on Your Mindset

It’s always easier said than done! Most of us agree that challenges must be dealt with head-on, but not all of us can do so successfully. The ability to embrace problems and solve them comes down to our mindset, which determines the way we turn the challenges we face into positive solutions. In my book “Homeless to Billionaire: The 18 Principles of Wealth Attraction and Creating Unlimited Opportunity”, I’ll disclose everything you need to know about developing the right attitudes to dealing with problems successfully.
