Positive Thinking
Henry Ford once said, “Whether you think you can or you can’t, you are right”. Believing that a man’s success or failure depends on the way he thinks, he understood the power of positive thinking in creating desired outcomes. Positive thinking isn’t a new form of Quantum Computing. In fact, its earliest mentions were introduced in 1937 by Napoleon Hill in the book, “Think and Grow Rich” when discussing a Positive Mental Attitude. Then, in
A Victim Mentality
Many people go through life on autopilot believing that life happens to them, that they have no control. They pay no attention to how they think. Many prefer to believe that life happens rather than face the idea that their own thoughts cause things to occur. Admitting that things happen because of their feelings is admitting that bad things happen due to their own fault.
Think Loudly, Think Clearly
Successful people think in terms of creating success. They visualize success and they don’t just “do things”, but they set goals. I set 101 goals that I want to achieve every year. Successful people don’t passively hope for the best. Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, “A man is what he thinks all day long”. To be successful, a man must think himself successful.
Positive Mindset Creates Opportunity
Positive thinking not only allows you to feel better in any situation, but it also makes you sharper in business. Barbara Fredrickson, a psychology professor at the University of North Carolina, states that “positive thoughts have a greater capacity to take on board new information. It improves a person’s perspective and ability to “connect the dots,” enabling them to tackle any problems and obstacles that may arise”. Positive thinking also helps us handle adversity. Success Master, Brian Tracy, states, “Optimists seek the valuable lesson in every setback or reversal. Rather than getting upset and blaming someone else for what has happened, they take control over their emotions by saying, What can I learn from this experience?”
You Need to be Behind the Wheel
In my book Homeless to Billionaire, I document my life on the streets of Stockholm, long before I arrived in Thailand, and how my attitude was that of a victim. The exciting thing was that everything that happened to me justified it. I didn’t realize that my idea of “life happening to me” and seeing myself as a victim caused that life. It wasn’t until I read The Secret that I went from being passive to being mindful and creating my own life. I discovered that life isn’t something that happens; it’s something we can create to achieve our desires.
You cannot be a passenger of your mind. You need to be an active creator. Decide on specific goals that you want to achieve and keep those goals in the forefront of your mind. To be successful in life or business, it’s essential that you are in control of your thoughts. You cannot exist on autopilot. If you want to be successful, know that your mind matters towards achieving success.
