There’s No “M” in Success, but There Should be in Yours

You’re one person, one mind and sometimes to get to where you need to be, personally or professionally, you need someone to lean on. Finding the right mentor in your life can make all the difference in the world. It’s that one person you have in your back pocket, your secret weapon, someone who will always be available to help you.

Is a mentor good for you?

According to Forbes, Mentorship is Key To Career Success for Young Professionals. The article suggests the following:

  • Don’t be afraid to seek out mentorship.
  • Learn to recognize the accelerators in your life.
  • Remember that mentorship is a two-way street.

Mentoring can help you clear certain hurdles in your life or business faster as mentors tend to have the “been there done that” know-how to get you over them.

Mining for Mentors

Mentors come in many different forms. In my book, Homeless to Billionaire, I talk about how my mother was my strong woman and the only person who had always believed in and encouraged me to be the best version of myself and to keep chasing my dreams. I found strength in her words. She was my first mentor.

Later on, my mentors were actual strangers to me. After reading the book, “The Secret”, I began to follow the works of Dr. Joe Vitale, Bob Proctor, Jack Canfield and more. Who would have known that years later, I would be sharing a stage with them? Now they are real-life mentors to me.

Approaching the RIGHT Mentor to Lead You

According to Techpoint, you “should only approach mentors who you believe would be passionate about your idea.” You want someone who shares your passion and will continue to move you forward when times might look bleak. The key to finding that great mentor is to have a give first mentality. How can you help them before they help you? If you have tried to get someone to mentor you by asking for help first, you’ll most likely find it difficult. After all, mentors tend to be busy themselves. You need to identify a way to help them first, and then ask for their help.

Mentors Give You Wings

Wherever you are in your journey, having a mentor can help transform your life and take you to new heights. Don’t think about going it alone. It was my mentor Dr. Joe Vitale who inspired me to write “Homeless to Billionaire” and take my story around the world. Now that story will soon be yours to read as the book gets released this spring.
