I wasn’t supposed to be successful. In fact, the path I was following when I dropped out of school at 15 led absolutely nowhere. I wasn’t anyone’s idea of a model son. A troublemaker, I was often drunk and regularly got into fights. After nearly killing myself with my behavior, I finally got a job—a dull, grinding, dead-end job. The depression it sparked made everything worse.
A New Beginning
However, a small inheritance of $2,000 from my grandfather changed everything. I thought, “I can leave here and start over,” and so I did. I had no idea what I was going to do or how I would earn a living, but I listened to the call from the universe and bought a plane ticket to Thailand. That’s when my life really began. Today I’m an author, philanthropist, entrepreneur, adventurer, founder of 19 companies under Blue Horizon Developments, and one of the most awarded real estate developers in Southeast Asia.
I’ve detailed the principles that helped me succeed in my new book, Homeless to Billionaire. To get you started, here’s how you can begin setting the goals you most want to achieve.
The “Write” Way to Set Goals
Knowing what you want in life is the first step to achieving it. To keep yourself moving forward to success, write down your goals. I make a list of 101 goals every year that I want to achieve in the next 12 months. Even though I’ve been homeless, bankrupt and clinically depressed, it was this method that helped me break free from my situation and achieve phenomenal success. Goal setting is powerful.
The Anatomy of Attracting Wealth
There’s a connection between what we visualize and what we’re able to achieve in the physical world. Studies have shown that practicing things that use our minds, such as playing the piano, has the power to focus our brain toward our goals.
Detail Your Goals in Full Color
Making a goal a reality requires in-depth visualization. It’s not enough to write or say, “I want to buy my mother a house.” What kind of house? Where? How will you pay for it? You don’t have to know how you will accomplish this goal, but you do need to know what that item will look like when you receive it, how long you’re going to give yourself to achieve it, and how you will feel when you attain your goal.
There was nothing special about me that allowed me to achieve what I did. It was the lessons I’ve learned, my laser-focused determination, and hard work that got me to where I am today. You can get there, too. I know it. Follow me on Facebook. Check out my website.
